Destination Review: Bear Valley Vista, Spring Green, Wisconsin

When the subject of hunting in Wisconsin first came up on Facebook, it was in a very joking manner. This gal from Florida who I’d never met before and I started bantering back and forth about her hunting here in Wisconsin with me this year.
Bantering turn into a bit of seriousness, and I suddenly had to host a hunt.
Spending a week in a hotel room is not a lot of fun no matter what the circumstances or who you are hunting with. So, I let the trusty, dusty, World Wide Web help a gal out.
One of my favorite website is called ” vacation rental by owner”, I have used vrbo.com many times in the past with great success.

So this is the first place that I turned to,  in hopes of finding a little house we could rent for the week near public hunting land.

It took several weeks of cross referencing houses that were reasonably priced within a few miles of federal, state, or private land open to the public.

My first two choices were booked solid for the rest of the year.  Then I stumbled upon a Bear Valley Vista.

It too, had limited availability and the only week it had vacancy, was the week of October 21.

Bear Valley, is to southern Wisconsin, what Buffalo County is to the northern half of the state. Many, many big bucks have come out of that area.

I spoke to the owner several times, a wonderful lady who was very helpful and very prompt.

The house was built in 1915 and updated in 2005 with all modern conveniences. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and the main bathroom has an amazing jacuzzi tub I took full advantage of.

Downstairs is a den with a futon that converts to a double bed and a second full bath. The beautiful dining room table seats 10. The living room was comfortable and the kitchen had every gadget and amenity you could think of.

The front porch with its Amish glider was the perfect spot to glass the public land right across the street.

This house was amazing.

It was the perfect house for a large group to go hunting, it had enough room to keep us from being on top of each other.  And the deer registration station right next door was a bonus.

If you’re in the Wisconsin area or looking for the perfect accommodations to host your Wisconsin hunt look no further than right here!
