For the Love of Fishing – 5 Items that will earn you brownie points this Valentine’s Day

For the Love of Fishing - 4 Items that will earn you brownie points this Valentine's Day by Carrie Zylka

Lots of people ice fish, but so many more people open water fish.

I absolutely love hardwater fishing but when I look outside at the -8 degree weather, I’ll admit I’m ready for some sunshine!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and there’s still time to order a loved one something that will get them excited for warmer days.

1. A Spinning Combo

The PENN® Fierce® III Spinning Combo is designed to give you the upper hand in any situation. With a 4+1 system that boasts durable stainless steel ball bearings and Instant Anti-Reverse, backed by the head-turning power of Penn’s premium HT-100™ carbon fiber drag, PENN has matched this reel to a quality rod built for maximum strength, with a powerful graphite composite blank that provides just the right combination of horsepower and flexibility. A perfectly matched setup, this combo offers dependable power for your saltwater exploits, at an affordable price.

2. Trout and Panfish Baby!

If you’re looking to fish for trout and other panfish, the Bass Pro Shops® Micro Lite™ Elite Spinning Combo is ideal. Light and sensitive, this combo features a Micro Lite Elite Spinning Reel that boasts a smooth and precise, 7-bearing system that includes Powerlock™ instant anti-reverse, and the Micro Lite Elite Spinning Rod features RT2 Graphite composite blank construction that provides reliable performance to anglers of all skill levels.

3. A Line Cutter

Now, while the rod and reel are essential, you can’t forget the tools needed to make your day on the water easy. One must-have tool for any weekend or pro angler is the Boomerang Tool’s “The Snip” – a 3.5″ retractable, heavy-duty line cutter that cleanly cuts up to 50-lb. test fishing line, quickly and easily. And don’t forget the Bubba® 110V Electric Fillet Knife which covers all the bases for filleting your catch quickly and easily, with no time limit and no power interruptions.

4. Organization is EVERYTHING

When everything is said and done, storage and transport is nothing to forget either. Made of polyurethane-coated, 900-denier reinforced nylon for water-resistant, rip-free performance, the Bass Pro Shops Stalker Backpack is the best way to store and carry what you need. Built to last, this pack comes complete with an internal divider, multiple internal and external organization pockets, side-loading compartments for utility boxes, zip hip-belt pockets, an integrated rod-holder system, and a fleece-lined sunglasses pocket at the top.

So, again, whether you have a special valentine or you’re your own valentine, order today and earn some serious brownie points!

5. Ice Auger

Ok, I had to throw an ice fishing item in this list, in fact I’ll probably write a second article later today that details all the ice fishing items I’d LOVE to receive for Valentine’s Day!

5 pounds. That’s the total weight of the K-Drill Ice Auger, the ice fishing auger designed especially for use with your cordless drill. But don’t be fooled by its lack of heaviness. The K-Drill is a beast, made of aluminum and tipped with a unique 3-blade system that utilizes high-carbon steel chipper blades; it chews through new ice and reopens old holes with incredible speed. You’ll also find that the K-Drill’s light weight and easy maneuverability eliminate much of the strain to your arms and shoulders. Equipped with a thermal wrap on the shaft to help keep your hands warm, and a compact built-in foam float to prevent loss if the drill chuck should ever loosen. Modular plastic shield clears ice shards quickly as you drill. Connects to any 1/2″ high powered brushless/cordless handheld electric drill. Includes safety cover for the blades.
