Relax, Refresh, and Indulge in Chippewa Falls

This week I have been in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers Conference, and it has been a whirlwind of fishing, networking, and presenting. After an incredible morning chasing muskies on Lake Wissota and giving my podcasting presentation for the conference, I realized I needed a little “me” time. Since I was camping at Lake Wissota State Park, I decided to explore a bit of Chippewa Falls and see what I could find.

First stop was Crimpers Hair Salon. Sometimes a good blowout is just what you need to feel refreshed, and Liz absolutely nailed it. Honestly, it was one of the best blowouts I have ever had. She also tipped me off to a local dining gem, Wissota Chophouse.

I took her advice, and wow, what an experience. A glass of chardonnay to start, followed by the 8 oz filet, prepared Oscar style, with a wild mushroom medley, caramelized onions, and the most decadent mushroom risotto. I was in absolute heaven. My waiter, Bruce, could not have been more delightful. He was friendly, attentive, and his wine pairing suggestions were spot on.

If you find yourself in Chippewa Falls, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Wissota Chophouse. Between the incredible food, welcoming service, and cozy atmosphere, it is a spot worth savoring.

  1. Carrie, that is a great blow-out. Believe me, I know one when I see one since my hair is curly and coarse. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. If you attend the Great Lakes Outdoor Writers’ Conference next year, let me know, and Radians Outdoors will donate an auction prize.

  2. Mary! I feel you there! With my course Shirley Temple curls, anyone who can get my hair THAT flat….and it lasted 3 days without hardly any flat iron touch ups????? Worth her weight, in GOLD!
I will email some auction details! We raised $33,000+ for our scholarships and initiatives – it was a great year!

  3. Carrie, that is awesome how you raised $33,000 for scholarships and initiatives. We have some new Radians Heated Gear in Mossy Oak Camo launching in the near future, so that might be a good item for next year’s auction. Take care and keep on posting!
