Pre-Season Scouting for the 2020 Archery Season

Pre-Season Scouting for the 2020 Archery Season by Carrie Zylka

It’s been awhile since I’ve published a post here on HuntFishTravel. Life has gotten crazy, yet again. But isn’t that the way of adulting?

With the temperatures in Wisconsin finally dropping below 95, I decided it was time to get out there and find a suitable bow hunting spot. Yes, I know I’m late to the party, but COVID has really put quite the damper on things. Better late than never.

I was pretty spoiled with the condo that I lived in Slinger, living within minutes of public land.

Waukesha is a bit different, I have to travel a bit further. But there are some nice areas.

I love public, and bow hunting provides a peace and solitude that no other activity, except maybe fishing, provides me.

9 round is closed on Sundays, so armed with  my Sagan Life water bottle, I decided a brisk hike up and down the rolling hills of Southeastern Wisconsin was on the docket for the day.

I found a few promising spots, but the best part of today, in addition to the cooler temps rocking it out in the ’70s, was that I did not run into a single other person.

Not one.

I had 4,600 acres to myself.

I’m hoping the trend will continue into the fall season, When I lived an hour north, I rarely ran into anyone while bow hunting. Even on the weekends.

I always feel like I have my own little slice of paradise. of course that all changes late November when the rifle season starts. But for now I’m just going to enjoy.

  1. Good luck this season! It’s good to see you’re planning to get out there. Yes, COVID has sure made things hectic.
